Entrepreneurial ventures have a dramatic impact on the economy and quality of life of Iowa County residents. That is why, if you are thinking about starting a business or growing a new business, the Iowa County Economic Development Commission (ICEDC) is here to help. We do this by linking you into a variety of strategic partners from across the state to assist with business plan development, financial analysis, product researching, marketing support, and financing. In addition to assistance through the ICEDC, there are many organizations with online tools available to aid you in your new venture. In addition, Iowa has recently launched a new one-stop online resource for entrpreneurial start-ups and growing businesses. The Iowa SourceLink site is part of a larger national database. Iowa Small Business Development Centers
The SBDC conducts research, counsels, and trains business people in management, financing, and operating small businesses, and provides comprehensive information services and access to experts in a variety of fields. Iowa Business and Regulatory Assistance Network
The Iowa Business and Regulatory Assistance Network ensures access and responsiveness to inquiries and requests for assistance from citizens, small businesses, industry and local governments. Business Assistance Coordinators in state government work as a cohesive network coordinating with communities and streamlining service. If you have questions regarding regulations or permitting requirements, contact the ICEDC and we can assist in getting answers to your questions. East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG)
The East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG) is an intergovernmental council established in 1973 under Chapter 28E and provided for under Chapter 28H of the Code of Iowa. Governed by a board of directors comprised of elected officials and private citizens, ECICOG was created to promote regional cooperation and to provide professional planning services to local governments in Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Tama, and Washington Counties (all services are not offered in all counties).
